The first snows have fallen in Lochaber. With the ground frozen from the valleys up it was a perfect opportunity to dust off the crampons and head for the hills on a blue sky day.
Stob Ban is a shapely munro at the western end of the Mamores, its name translates as ‘White Peak’ due to the pale quartzite rocks that form the summit. It is a fantastic place to discover the geology of the area and even under it’s winter coat the rocks were still showing their character.
